Halloween DIY#2 : Cooking

Even if I'm a very bad cook, I wanted to do something special and fun for Halloween. My friend Kiemi helps me and within an afternoon, here what we've done !

  • Jello aliens

This recipe this perfect for me because she seemed so easy ! But not enough for me ! I totally succeed to screw it... So instead of jelly, I did iced jelly in the end...

Ingredients and tools

- 1 cup of boiling water (so 237 mL)
- 1 cup of cold water
- 1 Jello s'lime sachet
- 1 bowl
- 1 measuring cup
- freezer-friendly molds

Instructions

1/ Mix in a bowl the boiling water and the jelly during 2 min.
2/ Add cold water and mix.
3/ Fill the molds
4/ Put in the freezer
5/ Serve !
  • Jello Halloween monsters
Same recipe as above, except that we used orange and grape jelly this time. In a more complex way, you can try : http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/MMMMonster-JIGGLERS/Detail.aspx?evt19=1

Ingredients and tools

- 18.25 ounce or 215 g of cake mix or for me 50 g butter + 50 g flour + 50 g sugar + 50 g eggs (a small egg)
- 16 ounce or 190 g of chocolate frosting or vanilla frosting (I used Rich & Creamy of Betty Crocker). You can also put peanut butter instead.
- 3 ounce or 35 g of candy melt
- mold for pop cake or melon spoon
- sticks

Instructions

1/ I can't help, I'll never eat a pre-maid cake ! So I put a quatre-quart instead. This cake is very easy to make and matches perfectly with the chocolate !
  a) Mix eggs and sugar until it becomes white
  b) Put the flour and mix
  c) Put the melted butter
  d) Cook at 180°C until it seems to be ok but not burned (around 15 min)
2/ Stir the cake with the frosting until it's well mixed up.
3/ Make balls or fill the mold and let rest in the fridge (or even in the freezer).
4/ Melt the chocolate
5/ Hold the cake balls with a stick and dip them in the melted chocolate.
6/ Decorate and let rest.

  • Halloween marshmallows

Ingredients and tools

- marshmallows
- dye liquid
- water
- cups
- sticks
- cardboard

Instructions

1/ According to the result you want, dilute the dye (for me 10 drops for 1 coffee spoon)
2/ Fill the cups with the dye
3/ Put a stick in a marshmallow and decorate it :

4/ Drain and let it dry

  • Pumpkin soup
In Paris, Jibouille used to make me a "potiron" + nutmeg soup which was delicious and I was really happy to eat it again... Except that pumpkin doesn't taste like "potiron" at all ! F or me, it's really to sweet, so I advise you to use this recipe for something more like than "potiron" than pumpkin.
